Bump & Birth Fit

Congratulations on your pregnancy! This is both an exciting and nervous time as a new life begins to grow over the next 9 months. Exercising when pregnant may seem like the last thing you would want to do but it can play a vital role for both you and baby as you move through each trimester.

This pregnancy fitness class uses the latest body conditioning exercises to not only help you stay strong and have an active in pregnancy but to also positively impact your changing body as it prepares itself for the labour and delivery of your baby.

If you have no contraindications and your GP and/or midwife knows you are exercising, then the options are limitless. There are plenty of safe pregnancy adaptions to take you through each trimester as long as you feel up to it and you listen to your body – you could exercise right up to your due date!

How does body conditioning exercise benefit a mum-to-be?

  • you are trained by an experienced and qualified pregnancy instructor

  • it allows your body to cope with the growing demands and changes of each trimester

  • it keeps you mobile and aids to relieve common discomforts or aches of the growing bump

  • it maintains strength, endurance and prepares your body for labour

  • it maintains a healthy physical and mental well-being

  • improve oxygen supply to the placenta and healthier heart for baby

  • it can support and encourage a quicker recovery after birth

What to expect...

Participation in the classes requires completion of a pre-screening health check screening form (PAR-Q* before attending. This is to ensure that the exercises planned are appropriate and beneficial (*see the 'Waiver & Screening Form' tab above).

Each class works through a mobilisation/release warm-up and low impact cardio exercises to maintain flexibility and good circulation.  The use of light weights, Pilates balls and resistance bands to support the strengthening, toning and stability of the core, pelvic floor and key muscle groups as you progress through each trimester. Birth Prep moves are also incorporated to provide an element of relaxation and calmness. 

Bump & Birth Fit class is suitable for all fitness levels with options and exercise modifications given where necessary. Sessions last between 45 to 60 minutes.
